Phototherapeutic Keratectomy, abbreviated as PTK, is the use of an excimer laser to remove superficial corneal disorders or irregularities from the surface of the eye. The excimer laser’s ability to meticulously remove corneal tissue helps to minimize unnecessary tissue removal and to enhance post-procedural comfort and clarity.
