Limbal Relaxing Incisions
Limbal Relaxing Incisions (LRIs) are offered for extreme levels of astigmatism. LRIs are small incisions made on the far outer edges of the cornea (the limbus) in order to allow the cornea to become more rounded (and less “football” shaped, as is the case with astigmatism). LRIs produce less post-operative glare and less patient discomfort than CRIs (corneal relaxing incisions), and it has been found that LRIs heal faster. Also, because LRIs are performed on the limbus, they leave the cornea in flawless condition.
